Steven Khalil’s 2017 Resort Collection that he showcased at Carriage works during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2016 was one of the most glamorous shows of the season. Every look that came down the runway had a sparkling element, whether it was his intricate use of beading or his use of metallic. The lights shown onto the looks as they made they’re way down the catwalk, highlighting every small details of the lace, beading, sequence and textures, causing the anticipation within the audience.

His collection featured breathtaking dresses, using textures such as lace, embroidery, beading and glitter. Colours in his collection included white, grey, black, lavender and metallic. He ended the evening with a show-stopping bridal gown, which is what he is known for. This was the moment everyone was waiting for and it did not disappoint when it made its appearance. The atmosphere was remarkable, roaring with eagerness- definitely an experience I will not forget.

Steven Khalil creates his designs to make women feel glamorous, sophisticated, feminine and special, and all those designs that made their debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week where just of that, staying true to the brand. 

VINTAGE GLAM......

My second brief for my styling workshop was called "Vintage Glam".

Think embroidered lace, delicate beading with a touch of roaring 20's and regency high society. The direction I took when styling for this brief was to create a classical, glamorous vintage look with a touch of sophistication and elegance.

 I styled my model with a delicate lace dress with a sheer scarf over her shoulders and a vintage hair headband to add the glam and sophistication. the shoes add a sexy element with the mix to suede and leather textures and brings the look together to give a 'high society' feel.

POP ART....

Pop art was one of my briefs for the styling workshop I participated in. It made me think of bold and bright prints and pops with a splash of colour.

 

The direction I wanted to take with the styling was 'fun', 'energetic' and 'fresh and young'. Where I went with this look was more of a sporty look to bring in that energetic atmosphere.

This look screams 'Pop Art' with all its fun splashes of bright colours in the dress, the bold accessories and multi-coloured sneakers. To add to the look, I incorporated some scattering balloons for a hint of playfulness as it all ties together with 'Pop Art'.

NYFW 17: KATIE GALLAGHER REVIEW

Showing her 16^th line, titled Hallow, at this year’s F/W 17 collection, Katie Gallagher, says Halloween is where she found inspiration. Using only two colors throughout her total 20-piece collection, what you may think was a limitation hatched a very unique line. The bright orange contrasting with the dark black, the structured lines of the garments that contrasted with the femininity of the sheer tops successfully communicated the “really strong woman” that Gallagher says was the woman the collection is designed for and inspired by. Her use of contrasts, her creativity, and her purposefulness in expression of such a strong message was artfully appreciated.

Romeo Hunte FW 17 collection, a contemporary brand that focus on outwear. This line had an recurring theme of streetwear that can appeal to many people in street fashion worldwide. Honestly, I totally can see a lot of influencers and bloggers wearing his brand. He was strong on playing with the textures especially the color blocking. Taking a simple blue trouser pant adding a color blocking dark blue at the bottom, gives it such a dramatic feel. Won't it look nice with a white-buttoned up work shirt and black pumps!?!?

This collection had a lot plaid paired with vibrant colors. Dressing up your puffy jacket with more of a polished look. There's a lot of men influenced within this collection with makes such a universal line. I have to say Romeo Hunte appealed to both women and men in this collection...I would wear a lot of these pieces!!!
